It's easy being green!

Our transition to earth-friendliness is an on-going one, but was prompted by Reese's birth, as well as green-practicing loved ones...namely Geoff's sister, Courtney, my sister, Katie, and Amanda B.

Thankfully, it turns out going green is not as difficult or expensive as it may seem! Although green products are sometimes more expensive at the outset, they are often more concentrated and thus last longer. In terms of food, I often find that when it comes to produce, the price difference between organic and non-organic is not substantial when things are in season. With cleaning products, they are homemade and very cheap!

In case you're interested in becoming more green, a few of our favorite green:

Baby brands:
California Baby, bumGenius (cloth diapers), Seventh Generation (disposable diapers)

Toiletry brands:
Avalon Organics, EO, California Baby, Kiss My Face

Paper goods/laundry:
Seventh Generation

Giving credit...

where credit is due! I forgot to thank those friends who inspired this blog. They include Jen Mayo, the Updikes, and the Cottrells. Consider yourself shouted out to ;).

He walks (sometimes)!

So what's new...

Oh, just about everything, really! Geoff will graduate in less than two months, our house is on the market, we're moving to Ohio for a year, and Reese is starting to walk. In sum, our lives are a bit chaotic right now! We just have to keep reminding ourselves that these are all good things ;)

Welcome!

We've joined the blogging generation! I have to admit I'm a bit torn about the whole thing...after all, it seems a bit presumptious that you all would want to hear about the mundane details of our everyday lives. But, at the same time, I'm totally obsessed with my friends' blogs, so I figured perhaps on occasion the mundane details of our lives would be interesting to you after all! So, rather than receiving never-ending emails from us, you can pick and choose if/when you need a Smitham fix! I'll post pictures of Reese monthly in addition to any other funny happenings and news occurring around our household. Thanks for visiting :)
